Lumecca IPL Photofacial: Improve your skin’s complexion and clarity

Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) laser treatment that corrects pigmented skin and vascular lesions. After just one session, many patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of their skin. Lumecca operates using photothermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. 

In just one to three sessions Lumecca improves the appearance of age spots (red/brown pigmentations), vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma, rosacea (redness), freckles, and sun damage.

  • Vasular lesions, commonly called facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma commonly become more visible as we age. These can crop up on our faces, legs, arms and other areas of the body.

  • Some people suffer from Rosacea, or redness of the skin, from a young age. This skin condition is usually accompanied by visible blood vessels and can cause pimple-like bumps on the face.

  • The procedure is not painful, but can be uncomfortable for more sensitive patients. During treatment the bright flash of light from Lumecca will create a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour.

  • Treatment areas and an individualized plans are determined by the provider for each patient. As an example, the cost of a single treatment of IPL for the face is $500; however, we recommend you purchase a package of 3 sessions to improve results and significantly reduce the price.

  • For a medium-sized area such as the face and neck, the procedure can take about 30 minutes.

  • Improved skin appearance can be noticed after the first session. Multiple sessions provide even better results. Treatment regime depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage) and energy settings. We typically recommend 3 treatments and offer reduced pricing when purchased in a package.

  • Almost all patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure. Most patients do not experience any side effects. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.

    Over the next 24-48 hours patients may see a darkening of pigmented spots. in the week afterwards, the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, patients may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

  • When you schedule your appointment, we will send you detailed pre-treatment and post treatment instructions.

    Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning 1 month prior to treatment. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.

    Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. For vascular treatments such as facial telangiectasias, results can be seen in up to 2 weeks.
